ElBilLader – Terms and Privacy

What ElBilLader is

ElBilLader is a private, non-commercial application that plans the charging of an electric car at home. It charges in the hours when electricity is cheapest, so the car reaches its charge target by the time it is needed. It is run by a private individual for one household and is not offered to the public.

Who may use it

Only members of the household that runs it, for their own cars and their own home charger. No accounts are offered to anyone else.

Data read from the car

With the car owner's consent, given through the car maker's own login (Volvo ID), ElBilLader reads:

• the battery charge level and the target charge level set in the car,
• whether a charging cable is connected and whether the car is charging,
• the car's estimated time to reach its target, and its estimated electric range.

It does not read the car's location, trips, driving behaviour or any other data. It does not send commands to the car unless the owner turns on remote climate start, and then only to start the climate system before a departure the owner has set.

How the data is used

Only to work out how much energy the car needs and when to charge it, and to show the owner the charging plan and its history. The data is never used for anything else.

Where the data is kept

On a small server in the household's own home in Denmark. It is not stored with any cloud service, and it is reachable only from the household's own network.

Sharing

The data is not shared with, sold to, or shown to anyone outside the household. No advertising, tracking or analytics are used.

How long it is kept

Charging history is kept as long as the owner wants it, so the owner can follow consumption and cost over time. It can be deleted at any time by the owner.

Withdrawing access

The car owner can withdraw ElBilLader's access at any time, in the car maker's account settings for connected apps. After that, no more data is read.

No warranty

ElBilLader is a private hobby project, provided as it is, without any warranty. The car and the charger remain fully controllable through their own apps at all times.

Changes

If these terms change, this page is updated and its date changed.
